We tagged along with Mikaela to work one afternoon and were lucky enough to see her work with a few patients before heading to the beach for a sunset swim with her fiancé, Jordan.

Its community feel and the fact that the lifestyle completely encompasses all the activities and vibes that we enjoy most, making it feel very comfortable.

What does community feel like to you?

Community is all about the connections you have with the people around you. Those familiar faces and the feelings of safety and involvement. It’s so nice to be walking down the street or on the beach and run into people we know.

What led you to become a chiropractor?

Being a patient as a teen. I remember my very first appointment, listening to my chiropractor explain what he does and how you can also go to a chiro without pain. It’s like a tune up for your body, “like servicing your car”. I witnessed first-hand how good I felt afterwards and left the appointment knowing that’s exactly what I wanted to do.

What is your favourite thing about being a chiro?

The connection created with people and the profound impact I can have on someone's life or their family unit. It's very humbling. And I have the ability to care for and support people of all ages, especially beautiful babies and kids. I'm so drawn to and passionate about children. I'm in awe of their curiosity and innocence.

Who has most inspired you in your desire to give back to the community through your practice?

My father. He spent his life caring so much for others and his community in every aspect of his life. He impacted people deeply because of the man he was and the way he went about life. It was so inspiring to see such genuineness and altruism from the man I admire the most.

How has your relationship to wellness and wellbeing evolved over the years?

It’s much more gentle and more intuitive these days. Checking in with my body and what it desires in the moment, rather than continually pushing hard with high intensity training. More yoga, Pilates, runs and walks. However, I am loving feeling strong doing some boxing at the moment

What is a typical day in your life like?

Up early, run or yoga, beach swim, coffee, journal, spend the day adjusting in my beautiful practice, healthy yummy dinner (potentially with a cheeky wine) while listening to some of our vinyl collection.

How do you find peace in your day to day life?

Mornings are very special and important to me. Journal writing and planning my day with a coffee, ideally at the beach is my favourite way to start the day. I find the ocean so peaceful and calming, like a big reset and cleanse; and a great way to wash the day off.

How do you celebrate milestones?

It can look different depending on what milestone. I love special dinners and drinks with friends and family. But I also think reflection is really important, so journal writing and deep discussions with my partner is my way of celebrating and resetting goals.

Any words of wisdom you live by?

"If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well"- something spoken by my father a lot growing up.

What's on the horizon for you?

Jordan and I are getting married in early 2021. And hopefully some more travel and exploring, even if that's just in Australia. There are also some exciting changes coming within my business next year!
